Foundations in Discipleship and Church Life Part 4 | Holy Spirit Dependence Part 2

Today we took our second look at the benefits of being fully dependent on the Holy Spirit in our everyday living. Our summer student interns took the time to talk about 4 key principles found in the life of Jesus and how they can be a part of our lives too.

‘One Another’ Summer Series Part 1 | Don’t be the Judge of That | Romans 14: 13

I think we can all agree that we instinctively judge one another. It’s hard to explain why but we all struggle doing it; for some less and for others it’s a real problem. Today’s text challenges the growing and mature believers to not get in the habit of judging the weaker or new ones to the faith. We need to obey the law of love and not be so impatient with the others who need to grow and mature in their faith. Besides, we were in their shoes at one time, too.

Jesus the Living Word

Jesus The Living Word Part 37 | Father and Son Serve with Love | Luke 22:7-16; John 13:1-17

Sometimes love can make us feel very uncomfortable, especially when we may be the recipient of someone’s love towards us. In today’s lesson, Jesus models and leads his disciples to follow his example of love being visible in a tangible act of servanthood. Hard to imagine the Creator of humanity getting a bowl, water and towel and washing the feet of his disciples, and he does it. And the impact it has on them and hopefully us should transform our view of others.

Foundations in Discipleship and Church Life Part 3 | Holy Spirit Dependence

We take a Sunday to make a family oriented talk and this week we talked about the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of Jesus and then how he affected life in the early church. To live each day being in a saturated way to be fully dependent on the Spirit’s leading and guiding.

Jesus the Living Word

Jesus The Living Word Part 36 | Blinded by the Light | John 12:37-50

Ever step into a room that is pitch dark and then you throw on the light? It can be blinding and take awhile for your eyes to adjust, right? In the gospel of John, John has spoken about Jesus being the Light of the World and his life and light has dawned on humanity. But the challenge was for some folks was that they refused to believe in Jesus, despite all of the miracles that he did – they refused to believe in him. It still can happen today. Despite the evidence of God, they choose to have it their way rather than God’s way.
