Sanctuary Experience … Here’s what others have to say:

“Sanctuary is like my second home. It is inviting, comfortable and full of friends both close and potential. I always feel welcomed and cared for and I love the fact that I can be myself (which is rather kooky). I also love the music which runs the gamut of styles from foot-stomping to reflective…”

Sanctuary – The Synopsis:

Sanctuary – has had a vision to be a place to get safety and healing from the storms of life; to be a place of refuge that is found in Christ and in community.

As one of the congregations of Bradford Baptist Church (BBC) we best describe Sanctuary as “help on this journey through life”.

Background:

For about 15 years Pastor Tim lead the youth ministry at BBC, when on a BBC leadership retreat we felt the Lord moving BBC into establishing a vision of 4 congregations one church, they knew they needed to start a second congregation. So Pastor Tim was asked to consider that new ministry opportunity. And Sanctuary was then birthed on Sunday nights, after a few years of trying that it shifted to Sunday mornings at 8:30 am.

Some time in 06 the idea of moving the congregation into the downtown core came to light. This was definitely a God idea, it eventually surfaced at a Sanctuary prayer meeting and the excitement of the idea began to take shape. Over the next two years we had prayer summits to determine God’s leading and timing and things we needed to have in place before we could launch. At Christmas of 07 the ministry of Crosstrainers www.ctministries.ca approached us and asked if we would be interested in using their facility as a meeting place. We agreed and are now just in the beginning stages of working out of the Hub since Sept. 21/08. We are looking to see who God wants us to meet and minister too. Certainly there is many opportunities that we can partner beside in the downtown core.

We look forward to the privilege of having you visit with us.

Leadership:

Pastor Tim … (also known as “PT”)

Tim is from the southern Ontario region, having grown up in a pastors home, moves took him to several communities in southern Ontario.  Upon completion of high school, attended Winnipeg Bible College (now known as Providence Bible college), completed a BA in Biblical Studies. Married Jackie (Wiebe)  from Winnipeg, Manitoba in the fall of 83. They moved to St. Catherines to do a partime youth pastors job and working in local hospital as a brain surgeon (did we mention the dry sense of humour?).  In the late spring of 85 accepted the invite to come to BBC as the youth pastor.

Tim has a Masters in youth ministry from OTS (known now as Tyndale Seminary).

He has been greatly influenced by Sonlife ministries (http://www.sonlifeclassic.com/) which is a reason he has been at BBC so long- it has provided the backbone to doing ministry and creating longevity in ministry.

Always the avid sports fan, he loves to golf, fish, play hockey and is a regular at the gym.
