Sermons for help on this journey through life

Jesus the Living Word Part 41 | Pathway of Living is Loving Obedience | John 14:22-31

There is a TV show that shows the comings and goings of folks at local airports. Goodbyes can be very hard for many of us, especially if the goodbye means a very long time before you get to see one another again. Jesus is in the same spot with his team of men. He is saying goodbye but he is also telling them of the soon arrival of the Holy Spirit. Isn’t it great to know that the Lord has not left us all alone but has given us a wonderful friend in the Spirit of God?

Jesus The Living Word Part 40 | Our Advocate The Holy Spirit | John 14:12-21

Let’s face it. We all struggle with obedience; having a form of a vibrant walk with God. Today Jesus introduces the disciples to the work of the Holy Spirit and how important it will be for him to leave and the Spirit of God to indwell man. It’s the Spirit who gives us the means to walk a healthy and vibrant spiritual life and a life that brings impact to those around us and brings Glory to God.

Foundations in Discipleship and Church Life Part 4 | Loving Relationships

Adapted from Sonlife’s “Foundations”

One of the great things about the life of Jesus is that he modeled and lived out his message – and that can be a very difficult thing for all of us. We believe our message of loving others, but it sure can be hard to live it in our words and actions. Today we looked at some of the people Jesus went to and his unique way of loving these individuals, groups and even cities. We take a moment to reflect on how others in the body of Christ have loved us too.

Jesus the Living Word Part 39 | Hold Fast | John 14:1-11

Have you ever taken the time to research a song or a hymn and why it was penned? Sometimes there is an intriguing story behind it. Many a hymn or song does have a story, and many are about the unpredictability of life and how challenging it can be. When life’s storms hit, what is your anchor and how does it remain intact in the midst of a storm? It takes a faith that is rooted in the Saviour and his ability to make sense out of the madness of life. Well, a storm is about to hit the disciples and Jesus is prepping them the best way He can.

Jesus The Living Word Part 38 | Serving Within Jesus’ Kingdom | John 13:18-38

Serving is a choice we must make on a daily basis until it becomes a habit forming lifestyle. And when we serve it may not always be easy but a challenge. As we view Jesus in his last supper meal with his disciples we see how he teaches on this important topic but models it in front of a man who would betray him to death and another disciple who would deny him. Powerful insights we can learn from Jesus.

One Another Summer Series Part VIII | Spur Loving Relationships | Hebrews 10:24

There are lots of things that we need to be reminded of, like birthdays, anniversaries and things like that. But sometimes we can forget how to love others or do good towards others. As the USA just got hammered by the recent hurricanes, we have seen the good but we also see the bad as looters are out trying to steal from homes and stores. We need to encourage the family of God to Love and good works – we need the gentle use of a Spur.

One Another Summer Sermon Series Part 6 | Speak and Sing to One Another | Ephesians 4:32,5:19

We can often be fooled by our first impression of someone we meet or while viewing a situation, but if we give ourselves time, we can gain our Father’s perspective of the individual or the setting in which we find ourselves. Today we will look at how we can be moved from our emotions to the right course of action, in kindness or compassion. Then we will see how important it is for the body of Christ to come together in worship – not only does it move God, but it has an incredible affect on each other.

‘One Another’ Summer Sermon Series Part 5 | Encourage and Agree with One Another | 2 Corinthians 13:11

Encouragement – we certainly love receiving it and for some of us it can really motivate us. It can brighten a gloomy or difficult day or make us to aspire to keep doing the job, task or using our talents and gifts for the good of others. Today our summer student intern takes a turn at sharing about encouragement and agreeing with one another, and the message takes a different turn in the end as the congregation takes some time to talk about how to encourage one another in very insightful and practical ways.
